Campsite Layouts

Wondergat has 9 { nine } allocated campsites which differ in size to accomodate different group sizes that want to come and spend a weekend diving. Most of the sites has lots of shade. In the winter or dry season the sites can become a bit dusty if the wind comes up. All the campsites are properly marked with information boards to indicate the campsites to persons arriving late at night.






Camp Site No: 1

This camp site can accomodate +- 15 Divers and is situated near the entrance of the hole on the southern side. This site is usually used by Technical divers as their campsite.



Camp Site No: 2

This site can accomodate +- 15 divers and is situated on the south western side of the venue a bit futher away from the entrance to the hole. This site has got running fresh water and at this stage serves both campsites No: 1 and No: 3. Due to the rocky formations its difficult to get water at this site.
 


Camp Site No: 3

This site is the second smallest site and can accomodate +_ 10 Divers and is situated on the western side of the hole directly opposite the entrance to the hole.


Camp Site No: 4

This site is the second largest site and can accomodate +_ 25 Divers. Campsite No: 4 has running waterThis site is ussually booked by clubs to accomodate all their members.


Campsite No: 5

This site can accomodate +_ 15 Divers and is situated on the north  western side near the ablution block the furtherest from the entrance to the hole.


Campsite No: 6 & No: 7

This site is occupied by the Management Committee Members on weekends when the Committee Members are not present this site can also be booked. Committee Members need to book this site in Advance if they want to occupy the site for a weekend.


Camp Site No: 8

This site is the smallest site and can accomodate +_ 8 Divers and is situated on the North Eastern side of the hole. This site do not have running water due to the rocky bottom of thie site. Camp No: 6 and Camp Site No: 9 serves this site with running water.

Camp Site No: 9 

This site can accomodate +_ 15 Divers and is situated opposite the side entrance to the hole. Site has got running water.


Braai Facilities at the Camp Sites

All the braai facilities at the campsites were repaired or rebuild. Grids can be collected from the office and must then be returned on departure. 


Ablution Facilities at Wondergat

These facilities were recently upgraded and the water problems that was evident previously were sorted out. There are now free running hot water in the showers and in the bath at the ladies side. Four outside cold water showers were build to accommadate divers that want to wash there wetsuits and hang them up to dry.

The concrete floor was thrown to prevent mud and dirt to enter into the showers in the ablution block. The sides are covered at this stage with nylon wind sheeting and will later be replaced with split poles if we can get hold of some.
